NY Resolutions For Your Pet!

New Years Resolution

If you want to start a New Year’s resolution, why not include your pet as well! There are plenty of ways you can improve their lives with just a little determination and effort, and the result: a happier and healthier pet!

1.  A DATE WITH THE VET!
Start with a clean slate and bring your fur friend in to see us for a checkup. Many issues are much easier to deal with when detected early, plus talking to us will give you ideas on how you can improve your pet’s life in many ways.

2.  DAILY GROOMING
Keep their skin and coat healthy and shiny! Plus, most dogs just love the attention and the sensation of a good brushing!

3.  TEACH THEM A TRICK
Teaching your pet a new trick is both mentally and physically rewarding for both of you. It’s also proven to help reduce cognitive deterioration in aging animals! If you’re unsure where to start there are plenty of videos online to help you for all sorts of tricks!

4.  CLEAN TEETH
A gentle brush of their teeth daily is gold standard and is proven to reduce the amount of dental procedures in a dog’s life! Include a dental treat and dental solution and your pet’s smile will be the best in the park! Pet Doctors has the best products on the market!

5.  KEEP UP TO DATE
Maybe your number or address has change recently? It never hurts to check that their microchip details are up-to-date. We highly advise doing it while you think about it as many lost animals have not been able to reunite with their loved ones because of outdated microchip details. Pet Doctors can help you with this!

6.  AGE-APPROPRIATE FOOD
As your pet grows their nutritional requirements can change drastically. For example, senior pets don’t need the same energy as pups or kittens. A change in diet can make a huge difference, but remember to check with your us before adjusting their diet!

7.  MEASURE THEIR FOOD
Not just once, not twice, but every time! Guessing by eye or weight can mean significant fluctuations in the amount of food your pet receives, which can lead to weight gain. Most diets have the amount requirement on the bag, but if you are unsure it is important to speak to a Pet Doctors team member.

8.  GET PLAYING
This is the most fun of all our NY resolutions! Get a laser pointer or a squeaky toy and you’re all set. Plus, it will make you and your pet feel closer than ever when you’ve had some fun! Additionally, it’s proven to reduce stress in humans when they let lose with their furry best friend!

9.  TRY A NEW ACTIVITY
There’s so much out there for you to try with your pet, including Doga, stand-up paddle boarding, hiking and plenty of pet groups online!

10.  ADOPT DON’T SHOP!
If you’re unsure about getting a pet then fostering is a great way to test the waters without making a long-term commitment. Perhaps you already have a pet but have room for one more then this may be the change for the better that you both need! There are plenty of animals looking for a forever home so why not give one of them the best present ever this new year?
