Even Vets have emergencies! Little Elsie is considered the walking vacuum cleaner and gave Dr Kathryn a real fright!

Dr Kathryn recently had to rush her beloved puppy Elsie into the clinic to treat her after she decided to devour chunks of a gym towel.

Elsie is a gorgeous but an “eats-everything-in-sight” 8 month old Miniature Dachshund.

She had methodically chewed off chunks of the towel in 10 minutes … and swallowed the lot. Without prompt attention to make her vomit the towel would have passed into her intestines and blocked off her bowel, requiring bowel surgery to remove it.

Elsie will not learn a lesson from this … but Kathryn’s husband certainly has. All gym towels go straight into the washing basket!

If your pet has eaten something they really shouldn’t have, it is important to bring them in to see your vets at Pet Doctors immediately as intestinal blockages are a serious issue and need to be dealt with as soon as possible.
